Digital Skills for all of Europe: mc Group communicates the EU Code Week

mc Group is responsible for the communication of this year’s EU Code Week. The Europe-wide initiative, supported by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technologies (DG Connect), encourages young people, adults and the elderly to get to know the world of programming, coding and technology. Therefore, numerous events were held online or as face-to-face workshops from 10 to 25 October, in which digital and technical skills were taught in a playful way.

mc Group carried out an integrated communication campaign that used social media to focus on the active involvement and development of a community around the EU Code Week. In addition, mc Group was responsible for the content of individual event formats and the design of the official website blog. From dance challenges to virtual events with renowned guests from technology, politics and academia, and the implementation of targeted training sessions and webinars, mc Group was involved in a wide range of activities at this year’s Code Week.

In order to reach as many people as possible despite the current health situation, more Code Week activities took place online. Participants were able to organise or participate in various activities online and had free access to numerous resources on the website, which is available in 29 languages. Whether it is creating websites and apps, artificial intelligence or robotics – Code Week offered a variety of opportunities to find out in face-to-face or virtual workshops how much fun, creativity and teamwork is involved in programming.

All Code Week activities will be available until the end of 2020. We are very pleased that this year Code Week participants from 83 countries registered a total of 70.000 activities so far.
